Membership

Membership in Nalandabodhi Canada

Once you have visited our center, explored our classes and developed a meditation practice, you may wish to make a stronger connection to Nalandabodhi. In doing so, you can support Nalandabodhi as well as continue your own journey along the path. In becoming a member, we ask you to consider your commitment to the three paths that we offer.

Practice

We encourage members to engage in a daily meditation practice with guidance from a Practice Instructor, an experienced practitioner and personal mentor who can suggest classes and readings to strengthen your meditation practice. Opportunities for group practice and instruction are also available weekly.

Study

Our study path provides a comprehensive introduction to Buddhism to deepen your understanding of the teachings. Members are encouraged to engage in the curriculum developed and taught by our teacher, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.

Activity

The classes and events of Nalandabodhi are run by volunteers. Classes are taught by our senior students, and celebrations are planned by community members. There are many opportunities for members to make a meaningful commitment to the community as well as to their personal practice.

Formal Membership

An individual who would like to become a Nalandabodhi member does so through their local Nalandabodhi centre or study group. A Nalandabodhi Director or Membership Coordinator will meet with you to discuss your membership and go over details of definition, benefits, and responsibilities. You can contact her / him at:

Vancouver:  membership_van@nalandabodhi.ca
Toronto:  membership.toronto@nalandabodhi.ca
Montréal:  codirection.mtl@nalandabodhi.ca
Halifax:  halifaxmembers@nalandabodhi.ca

If you are interested in joining Nalandabodhi but do not live near one of these groups, please contact membership@nalandabodhi.ca and someone will contact you about at-large membership.

Open Participation

Formal membership is not required to participate in our community activities. If you are interested in developing a meditation practice or attending an occasional weekend program, we welcome your participation. Please visit our Donation page to find other ways to contribute financially.
